Don't Diet-Eat Towards Good Health

The diet industry has never been so lucrative. With all the ways to lose weight you would think that America would be one of the slimmest nations on earth. But this is not the case. When it comes to Obesity the United States is a mess. Just look around you. We do not need studies to tell us how much fatter we are getting. All we have to do is look around us or possibly just look in the mirror.

I want to share something with you that may just be earth shattering to you. Diet plans do not work. How do I know? How can you know? They do not work because usually a diet plan is just a temporary solution for a permanent problem. If you really are serious about losing weight and being healthy than you will stop trying the newest or even oldest fads of diet plans.

True weight loss and health can only be gained through eating foods that were designed to be eaten by the creator and exercising your body throughout the week. Yes that is right. If you eat the right foods and exercise 3-4 days a week you will not only lose weight but you will be healthier.

Over this last year people have asked me if I am planning to lose any more weight. My answer to them is always, "I am not dieting. I am simply eating the foods that my body needs and exercising each week. My body will then determine what my weight should be." This is the way God designed our bodies. Not to yo-yo up and down but to live at a certain weight and stay their. I personally am a big eater. Yet my body seems to stay at the same weight. I am not losing right now nor am I gaining.

So you may ask what foods should I be eating to be healthy. Here are just a few tips that have worked for me
Tip 1-eat plenty of fruits and vegetables(raw if possible)
Tip 2-drink plenty of clean fresh water(Coffee and pop are not a substitute for water)
Tip 3-Eat whole foods which are high in fiber.
Tip 4-Remove white flour and sugar from your diet.
Tip 5-Get fat in your diet(that's right you need fat. Just make sure that it is the good types of fat that comes from vegtables and my favorite olive oil)
Tip 6-Make meat an exception not the rule(in other words don't eat much of it)
Tip 7-Find good whole food supplements and Herbs to help maximize body health(see my store at: myaimstore.com/totalhealth) or (go to a health foods store to get some good stuff)

Diets don't work but eating the right food does. I hope this helps you as you seek to regain Total Health

Guidelines for Healthy Eating

There is a lot of information out there on what one should and should not eat. To us average people this can be confusing. Where do we go for help in this area? Rex Russell in his book What the Bible says about Healthy Living, gives three principles which I believe can help us clear up some of the confusion. What Russell does is approach health from a biblical perspective. It only makes sense that if the Bible talks about all kinds of areas of life that it would also have something to say about our health. In a nutshell here are the three principles. I hope this will help you.

Principle #1 Eat Foods God designed to be eaten.
The apostle Paul says that all things may be permissible but not necessarily beneficial. In other words just because we have biblical freedom to eat something does not mean that it is good for our health. When one looks at the foods that God allowed the Israelites to eat it becomes obvious that God was not trying to restrict their diet but allowing them to eat foods that would keep them strong and healthy.

Principle #2 Eat Foods closest to the way God designed them.
Today we live inn a World of speed and quick gratification. For some things this has been great. But when it comes to food it has become disastrous. Today foods have been altered for longer shelf life and mass production. The very nutrients that God created to keep us healthy are being destroyed in the name of progress. It is important to get foods before they have been chemically altered or have lost their nutrition. The task of finding foods which have all their nutrients still in tack becomes more and more difficult. Finding good quality whole food supplements can help this task as long as they too have not been altered.

Principle #3 Do not let food become your god.
Remember that God created food for our enjoyment as well has to help us to live healthy lives. Like anything in life we must make sure that God is in control of our life and not the things we put in our mouths. If food is controlling us than we need to simply repent and allow God to take charge.

Welcome to Total Health!

I am excited about this new adventure that God is doing in my life and the lives of so many others. Total Health is a ministry dedicated to serving people who want to glorify God with their bodies. This site is not about losing weight on some goofy diet plan but will be used to provide help, encouragement and information on how to best serve God through nutrition & exercise. I believe that many of the problems we face today are a result of a lifestyle choice. Many of us can recover our Health simply by making choices through good nutrition & exercise. I hope that this website will be a help and encouragement to you and those around you.

I look forward to seeing how God works in your life. I would love to hear your stories of how your health has changed through nutrition and exercise.
